God Of War 3 & PS Now UK - Game Watch Weekly #10

Your weekly fix of PlayStation related news from the past week, and my reactions to them!

PlayStation Now UK Closed Beta Begins This Spring

"Sony has opened registration for private beta tests of its PlayStation Now service in the UK. Those with a PlayStation 4 and a PlayStation Plus subscription can register their interest to take part through the link here. Those who do not have a PS4, or those who are not currently subscribed to PS Plus, can still register their interest and receive further instructions at a later date. While the private beta is free of charge, Sony UK says it will only be available to certain customers, likely based on what region they are based in. A broadband connection with a minimum 5MB speed is required." From Gamespot by Rob Crossley

I'm still not sold on PS Now. Hopefully I'll be able to get into the beta and change my mind, but otherwise I'll just have to wait until it rolls out in the UK eventually and see what people think. Only time will tell.

The Last Guardian's Trademark

Earlier this year it was reported that the Last Guardian's trademark had been dropped. Eventually it emerged that it was in fact due to the patent not being processed properly - although Sony had tried to renew it. As of this week a new patent has been filed by SCEA for the Last Guardian - making it the third time that the name has been registered.

PSN Undergoing Maintenance

The PlayStation Network will go down for maintenance for two and a half hours from 9-11:30 AM PDT (12-2:30 PM EDT). This may be due to the fact that Bloodborne, which has a multiplayer mode, is being released the day after.

God Of War 3 Remastered Coming To PS4

Sony has announced that 2010's God Of War 3 is being remastered for PS4. It will be released on June 14th this year and will showcase 1080p 60fps gameplay. The game will feature a newly implemented photo mode. To see concept art and the trailer, view the Gamespot article here.

PS4 Limited Edition Faceplates

Sony has revealed two new limited edition faceplates, in addition to those already available. The new faceplates allow players to customise the consoles with a Bloodborne or "sacred symbols" theme. To buy the faceplates visit Sony's store right here.

These look very cool and can really help to make a PS4 your own! I would love to get my hands on these.

Hideo Kojima's Future At Konami

"GameSpot revealed on Thursday that power struggles between Kojima Productions and proprietor Konami have led to drastic changes at the studio. As well as being demoted from an executive position at Konami, Kojima is now essentially a contractor, with the terms of his employment expected to cease before 2016. In a bid to quell concerns that unrest at Kojima Productions would affect Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami has issued a statement with a quote from the games designer." From Gamespot by Rob Crossley

In the statement Kojima is quoted as saying "I want to reassure fans that I am 100 percent involved and will continue working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; I'm determined to make it the greatest game I've directed to date. Don't miss it!"

This is incredibly interesting. It's impossible to imagine Metal Gear and Kojima apart. The two names are synonymous with each other and it will be so fascinating to see what happens if Kojima does leave.

It's important to note that Konami is also advertising for developers for the next Metal Gear game.

Gamotere Update: Where Are Old Game Watch Weekly?

When I was deleting some old posts today, I accidently deleted every single Game Watch Weekly, except 8 - which I managed to recover. As of yet, I haven't been able to recover more, but I will keep trying. This is annoying as GWW take a long time to write, and are useful to refer to for older news. This is just to let you know where they are if you're wondering.

Gamotere Update: Nintendo News?

As you know, Game Watch Weekly covers PlayStation. As does this site. However if a big piece of news for either Microsoft or Nintendo about their consoles or massive gaming news I will cover it. For Nintendo's announcements from the last week, stay tuned to Gamotere tomorrow for a special Game Watch.
