The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hearthfire DLC Review
In the fifth and final Elder Scrolls DLC review week post: I review the Skyrim - Hearthfire DLC.
Despite two incredibly strong pieces of DLC coming out for Skyrim, sadly Hearthfire could not match them in quality or quantity. Hearthfire is DLC that's all about the player building a home. Yep, that's it.
Obviously this IS reflected in the price, however I still think even the small fee of £2.99 (ish) is fairly expensive for something with so little to do, and what there is there is actually extremely boring.
In addition to this, the PC version on Steam has mod's that do what Hearthfire tries (and fails) to do - create a fun house building add on - for FREE! And often the quality is much higher. For example - there is a mod which lets you build your own city! That was incredible to be able to do and, this is key, the process of doing it was fun as well!
Throughout building any home it feels as though there is no point doing it, as well as that it takes ages to do anything! Even building the frame takes about an hour as you gather the correct materials (NOTE: in the PC version, you can speed this up by using console commands).
Saying that, once the home(s) are eventually finished, they look very cool. It just takes a long time to get to that stage.
