Tomb Raider 2013, Witcher 3 News & New Games Announced - Game Watch Weekly #13

The week's biggest PlayStation stories, and my reactions to them! First published: 11/04/2015.

Tomb Raider 2013 Has Sold Over 8.5 Million Copies

On Monday Crystal Dynamics, the makers of the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise, announced that the most recent entry in the series has sold 8.5 million copies. This not only makes a 1.5 million increase from February, but also makes it the best selling Tomb Raider game in the history of the franchise. This figure included sales from the Definitive Edition.

This is awesome! I loved Tomb Raider so I'm really glad that other people are still enjoying it now, and are still buying it to try it out. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I'm considering purchasing the Definitive Edition for my PS4. It would be interesting to find out how many people did buy both.

PlayStation Now Games Expanded!

Sony has added five more titles to the lineup on PlayStation Now. The games added included Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and Super Stardust HD. At the moment the game-streaming-service is not available in the UK, but is in North America. To find out more, visit the Gamespot article.

PS Now seems like a cool service, and I've signed up for the UK Beta to find out a little more about it. But, it does seem a little expensive and perhaps that's the reason it hasn't really taken off, and I, at least, don't really seem to hear about it all that often.

Star Wars Digital Collection Coming To PlayStation & More

This week Disney announced that all six Star Wars films are coming to streaming services, including PlayStation and Xbox. They arrived on the platforms on the 10th April. To find out more visit the Gamespot article.

Two Witcher 3 Expansions Announced Adding 30+ Hours...

CD Projekt Red have announced two expansions for The Witcher 3, in addition to the free DLC. The first, titled Hearts Of Stone should be about 10 hours and offer players a new part of the world to explore and a new quest line to play. The second will offer the same, and will last 20 hours. For more info, visit the Gamespot story here.

I can't wait to play The Witcher 3, and adding more to what I'm sure will be an awesome game can only be good, right? It is a little annoying the CD said that the DLC would be free and they are very clearly calling these "expansions" which feels a little like they're going back on their words, but maybe this is the way they were always thinking.

...And A New Trailer Revealed

A new Witcher 3 trailer also dropped this week. Featuring protagonist Geralt and a woman about to have sex on the back of a Unicorn this trailer shows that the Witcher will never change. To view click here for the Gamespot article.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Leaked/Announced

At the beginning of the week Square Enix was teasing a new game announcement. Sadly, it was leaked before the big reveal (and has since been confirmed by Game Informer) that this is a new Deus Ex game, titled Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. From the trailer it looks pretty damn cool. Check it out here at Gamespot.

I've never played a Deus Ex game and not heard a whole lot about it, save that it exists. So I'm looking forward to seeing what people think of this one, even if I'm probably not going to be playing it myself. It must have been annoying for Square to have their big reveal ruined, but I guess that's just the age we live in now.

Lego Dimensions Announced

A Skylanders/Disney Infinity style game based around Lego characters has been announced by TravellersTales, the makers of the Lego games. The series will feature characters from hit Lego franchise such as Lord Of The Rings and Ninjago, alongside others not yet explored by them. It is set for release on PS4, PS3, Xbox One & 360 and Wii U on September the 27th.

I can't wait for this game. As a huge fan of the Lego games, this seems like something that could bring all the best out of those games, and things like Skylanders into one giant tour de force with the Lego brand. I can see this becoming a huge this, especially for kids.

Post-Apocalyptic Cyberpunk RPG The Technomancer Announced

Bound By Flame makers Spiders have announced their next project: titled The Technomancer. It will come to PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2016. For more visit the Gamespot article right here.

While I didn't love Bound By Flame as a whole it did have a really cool idea and I hope Spiders can build on that to make something really awesome and worth playing.
