Game Watch - E3 2015: Microsoft, EA & Ubisoft Conference Summary & Reactions
The conference kicked off with 343 showing a live gameplay demo from Halo 5: Gaurdians along with a new trailer. In addition to this a new multiplayer mode - called Warzone - was announced.
Then Keiji Inafune and the "makers of Metroid Prime" revealed their new game, called Recore, which will be out in 2016.
Phil Spencer then came out to announce that the Xbox One will soon be backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games, possibly the biggest news in the conference! Then the "Elite Controller" for Xbox One was revealed. It features various improvements for the "elite" players among you. In addition to this, a 1TB Xbone was also (officially) revealed.
Bethesda's Todd Howard then came onto the stage, showed us Fallout 4 (again) and revealed the massive news that PC mods for the game will work on the Xbox One. Amid many scratched heads as people wondered how this would work were the cheers and sighs of an announcement that probably changed many people's pre-orders.
EA Access is free this week for Xbox Live Gold members, and Titanfall and Dragon Age: Inquisition will both be coming to the service over the Summer. Then, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 was revealed. It'll come out next year.
In addition to this, Forza 6 got a new trailer. Oh and there was a real car there (which blocked the camera for a bit). Oh and Henry Ford III (from Ford) was there for all of five seconds.
Then we saw an official reveal of Dark Souls 3, more of The Division and Rainbow 6: Siege. This was before a montage of ID at Microsoft (Indie Development) in which games like Tacoma and Ashen were teased.
Xbox Game Preview is a Steam Early Access-like thing in which gamers can try games for free, which is very cool! A collection of 30 Rare games are being bundled together for $30 in addition to their new game, which has been announced. It's called Sea Of Thieves.
The bombshell that Microsoft and Valve VR are partnering was kinda unexpected and only really mentioned in passing, but it's also something very interesting from the conference.
Then we saw a Microsoft HoloLens version of Minecraft. IT WAS AWESOME. The ability to manipulate a table-top Minecraft world is a direction in which (lets be honest) nobody saw the series going, but it's something that makes me incredibly excited for HoloLens.
Then the gears began to turn to war as it was announced that Gears Of War was being remastered for Xbox One. In addition to this, the next game in the series, simply titled Gears 4 (currently). Damn, that looked good!
To begin, EA announced a new game in the Mass Effect franchise - Mass Effect Andromeda. The game stars a brand new protagonist and is set in a brand new galaxy.
A Need For Speed reboot was announced next. Simply titled Need For Speed, the game will be released on November 3rd, and showcases new features and live action paired with uber-realistic graphics.
Free to subscribers, the new Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic expansion - Knights Of The Fallen Empire - releases on the 27th October. After this, the most exciting game (for me at least) was revealed. Unravel is an indie-not-indie that features physics based gameplay that looks to have an emotional story. The guy presenting this game was so genuine and excited to be at E3 that I fell in love with the game immediately. He was a very refreshing inclusion in an otherwise rather bland conference.
We learnt more about Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, saw some sports games (read another site if you want to hear about them). EA also revealed a new game based on the Minions that is coming to mobile.
Then we saw Mirror's Edge Catalyst, which features a new fully-open world. It looks very cool.
The we saw a whole lot of Star Wars: Battlefront, some of which you can see below.
Ubisoft opened by showing a new South Park game. South Park: Fractured But Whole, is a sequel to last year's game, this time the characters are playing as superheroes. You can see the trailer just below.
Then Yves Guillemot introduced a brand new game, For Honor. An expansion for The Crew called Wild Run was also announced. Ubisoft then showed of The Division and Rainbow Six: Siege. The Division was given a multiplayer demo. Rainbow Six was given a Beta for September 24th on all platforms.
A new version of Just Dance has also been announced, along with Anno: 2205. In Anno, players will build a civilization on earth that can eventually progress to the moon.
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate was also shown off, and given a brand new cinematic trailer to go with it.
Finally, a new Tom Clancy game - called Ghost Recon: Wildlands, which is co-op.
This is the second of our E3 2015 posts, where I summarise and react to all the news, within 24 hours of the conference ending! Next up, Sony!
