Uncharted 4 Trailer & PS4 Dominating Europe - Game Watch Weekly #23

The weeks' biggest PlayStation related stories and my reaction to each and every one of them! First published: 03/07/2015.

PS4 Is Dominating Europe, and Sony Is Not Planning A Price-Cut

President of Sony Europe, Jim Ryan, said in an interview with VG24/7 this week that the PlayStation 4 has a significant market share in Europe. He described the lead as not being "any less than 70 percent, and frequently greater than 90 percent in continental Europe." Later, he said that Sony is happy with the price and their market share and that they'll "leave it where it is for now." You can read the full interview here on VG24/7.

Minecraft Has Sold 20 Million

While this isn't specifically PlayStation related, it kinda is. And I think it's interesting. This week, the counter on Mojang's Minecraft website that counts how many copies have been sold hit a new milestone: 20 million.

That's an incredible number, but, especially for a game that was only really popularised by YouTubers before coming to the masses, it's amazing. But, consider this - that is only on one platform. One imagines that the overall number (encompassing Xbox One and 360, PlayStation 3, 4 and Vita) must be huge. It would be interesting to find out what that number is.

Shovel Knight Getting Physical Release

Yacht Club Games, makers of the retro-style 2D platformer, announced this week that Shovel Knight will be getting a physical release for PS4, Xbox One, Wii U and 3DS, in addition to a PC version which is only available in Europe. The release date is October 13th in North America, and October 16th in Europe. It will cost $20, which is $5 more than the digital.

I really love Shovel Knight. And I'll have a review for it on PS4 and PS Vita up soon, so I won't say too much here. What I will say is that I think it's beautiful and has a ton of personality and that Shovel Knight, as a character, is one that I have really come to have an affection for. If you haven't played it yet, I would definitely try to bag a physical copy - even just to have that beautiful artwork in your game library!

PSA: PS4 Update 2.55 Released

Sony have released update 2.55 for PS4 systems. The update is said to improve system software and stability. Lets hope it means that the "Discover" notification stops popping every time you turn it on!

Free PS Plus Games For July

Sony have announced the free PS Plus games for the month of July. They're as follows...
PS4: Entwined, MouseCraft, Rocket League and Styx: Master of Shadows
PS Vita: Entwined, Geometry Wars 3 and MouseCraft
PS3: Entwined, MouseCraft and Rain

Arguably there isn't anything massive on that list, but Rocket League is definitely something to check out. I played the Beta earlier this year and it was awesome. This is also from someone that doesn't like football (or soccer) OR racing games. It is awesome.

These games come on July 7th replacing June's list.

Uncharted 4 Extended Demo Released

At E3 a few weeks ago, Sony and Naughty Dog released some more gameplay footage for Uncharted 4. However there was more. There was a behind closed doors demo. Now, you can watch all of it right here!

Uncharted 4 is expected for release in Q1 2016, based on fiscal year expectations for Sony.
